WB: What was your course to our plant?
SR: It started as numerous marijuana stories do, with a serious illness that resulted in a lengthy odyssey of recovery. I was the creator and CEO of a New york city– based creative company and flying all over the world, gone for weeks at a time, when one day in 2014 after suffering a prolonged and mysterious series of agonizing symptoms, I started to lose consciousness in an essential conference. It ends up, I had Crohn’s disease that had actually gone undiagnosed for so long that I almost passed away. I was hospitalized, dosed with opioids and forbidden from flying for six months. Clearly my way of life had to alter but I had no idea what remained in store. I tried whatever to restore my health– took a leave of lack, attempted altering my diet and significantly minimizing my stress level– I ultimately wound up offering my business as I couldn’t perform as required. Honestly I could hardly walk or eat let alone work.
The medication I was recommended was expensive and caused hazardous side effects that showed more damaging than the illness, I became desperate. My other half had actually been advocating for marijuana for a while and again suggested I attempt products made with high doses of CBD, the non-psychoactive compound found in marijuana and hemp plants. I was doubtful however out of choices, and as I often state, ‘no option is likewise an option.’ So, I tried it and the results were extraordinary. I’m now a real convert since it really works for me– both in decreasing inflammation and taking away my incapacitating discomfort. I could finally control my symptoms and lower my chronic swelling, which might cause long-lasting risk for heart disease and cancer.

WB: Please inform me about what you’re working on right now. What are your six and twelve- month goals?
SR: I knew CBD oil provided extensive relief and some unexpected included health benefits, but I quickly discovered that the CBD and THC oil had near incredible impacts on the skin. The new brand lives squarely in the wellness classification– that middle ground between medical and recreational cannabis.
Our products include effective active botanicals such as grapeseed oil, safflower, avocado and neroli extracts all grown under the California sun. We want people to use our casts and pills like they would have a glass or two of red wine at the end of the night to knock the edges of the day or as an alternative therapy for wellness, discomfort management, tension and stress and anxiety.

WB: What is your enthusiasm?
SR: That’s easy, the survival and success of my natural farm– and that of all small, independent farms. Very early on we knew it was vital to deal with cannabis as an agricultural crop rather than some far-off mystical journey.
Like all farmers, we have to be able to operate on thin margins to ensure we are still alive next year, the year after or 10 years down the line. Growing cannabis like this requires all the growing abilities of a standard farmer consisting of the need to understand policies that fall under OCEA.
Our leaders welcomed practical cannabis legislation and worked in collaboration with the public over the course of practically two years to craft a legislation that would permit for farming practices. Growing safe, organic, pesticide totally free marijuana for our neighborhood.
In addition to running my farm and utilizing a highly competent local workforce, I serve on the Lompoc Valley Cannabis Association board and am an establishing member of the ‘Excellent Farmers.

WB: What’s it like to have a 63- acre marijuana farm right outside your front door? You grow your own organic food and cook, what is your favorite meal to serve individuals when they come to visit the farm?
SR: We are right off the highway, there’s no hiding the farm. We have this unbelievable, distinct terroir with the right amount of humidity and a sea breeze that develops natural air circulation. We have high temperatures throughout the day and low temperatures in the evening that you can’t duplicate in an indoor environment or in any other city or state. We reside in the very best growing area in the world which is why our pinot noir is likewise so great. Cannabis take advantage of the precise very same conditions as grapes and brings a better, truer expression of the plant than anything else I’ve seen. You know when you consume a tomato straight off the vine and tastes like the best tomato you’ve ever had? Consider the cannabis we grow just like that.
Cooking for my pals and household with provisions grown right here on our farm is the supreme expression of my love for the farm and the people who live, work and go to here. I have a couple of go to favorites and every year brew up my own THC infused habanero hot sauce for a little additional pleasure with any meal.
